The HELIOS – MSCA DN project welcomes Ankur Agnihotri to the team as DC3 at the University of Oulu, Finland. Ankur’s research focuses on Future EAF steelmaking using various iron-bearing raw materials.
He is developing an advanced dynamic model for the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) based on mass and energy balances. The model integrates key processes such as H2DRI melting, gas-phase reactions, metal-slag reactions, and slag foaming. He also employs machine-learning algorithms to refine model parameters based on offline data and utilizes online measurements like offgas analysis, vibration, and Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES) – to validate the predicted melting rates and ensure the accuracy of the model.
He graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Kanpur, and brings six years of research experience in steelmaking, casting, and process modeling. His experience in CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) has significantly contributed to his expertise.
Ankur is passionate about sustainability and the application of green technologies in steelmaking. His work aims to optimize EAF processes for greater efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and alignment with future industry demands.
