In early July, Dr. Henri Pauna (University of Oulu) and doctoral researcher Mert Saraçoğlu (KU Leuven, DC6) conducted hydrogen plasma smelting reduction (HPSR) experiments coupled with in situ optical emission spectroscopy (OES). The week was filled with fascinating OES spectra and several signals we had not observed before—as well as some delicious Belgian delicacies!
The HPSR furnace used in this research was designed and developed by Muxing Guo and joop van Deursen, while the H-plasma research at KU Leuven is supervised by Annelies Malfliet. After further analysis, we will be one step closer to understanding HPSR and gaining deeper insight into what occurs during the process.
